This is how a traditional 'Gara' got a modern twist..

For many years, Perveez Aggarwal has showcased traditional Gara embroidery in her “My Beautiful Embroideries” collection. Parsi Gara embroidery is a status symbol and most women want to have at least one item from “My Beautiful Embroideries” in their wardrobes. These consist of saris, kurtis, shawls and stoles as well as jackets, beautifully combining the traditional and the modern.

Gara embroidery is an ancient art lovingly passed down from generation to generation of artisans. Perveez Aggarwal is passionate about keeping the art alive – as well as providing a living to the artisans who depend on it for their very survival.

Legend has it that Parsis travelled from Persia and settled in Gujarat. They ventured into trade and travelled to China, bringing back beautifully embroidered silk fabrics for their wives. It is said that the Gara also drew inspiration from Iran as well as Indian mythology.

Perveez Aggarwal’s collection is a perfect amalgamation of all these cultures and is a tribute to the centuries-old art form. Perveez Aggarwal and her team have taken the initiative to present a new “My Beautiful Embroideries” collection every year. This year’s collection showcases traditional gara embroidery with a contemporary twist with items for all occasions. They also make beautiful gifts.
